When
modern ideals are thrust into a country that prides itself for its high morals, people across the country get enraged, and today, sex education is one such topic. In spite of more than 0.5 mn children in India suffering from AIDS and 53% of sexual abuse victims between 5-18 years, the matter’s still debated. The conservatives are resisting discussing the ‘taboo’ issue with kids, and schools in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have banned sex education as a subject for students. The pictures portraying the anatomy of the human body were likened to pornography and the activists felt that such exposure would encourage children to be sexually active.
