Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), the second largest computer chip maker in the world, has plans to invest $500 million in SemIndia’s proposed chip manufacturing facility near Hyderabad. The total investment of AMD will amount to $3 billion. While $1 billion will be an equity investment, the remaining will be through debt. The US-based chip giant will also provide technological support to SemIndia’s proposed manufacturing facility. Apart from AMD, Flextronics has also disclosed its intentions of taking up a minor stake in the venture.
