Vikram gives due importance to manufacturing excellence

IIPM PUBLICATION
Besides focussing on the marketing aspect, Vikram gives due importance to manufacturing excellence. TKM follows the “Just-in-time” (JIT) technique for production management. Vikram elaborates that it’s a three step process that has to focus on quality of the goods supplied, reliability of supply and production at the same rate as the supplier (to minimise inventory costs). The last step, he explains is ensured by regularly communicating the production rate to the suppliers. TKM also deploys a 3S model – Sales, Service and Spareparts to ensure that its dealers deliver international standards of quality and service. He expresses one of his key objectives, which is to “make manufacturing sexier than soft ware.” Among other initiatives, the group is working towards clarifying the Kaizen culture into a theory which can be adopted by the Indian mindset. What really stands out though is Vikram’s vision to transform the way people look towards India as an investment destination.
